I know you're looking at the name of the post and you're quite confused so allow me to explain some things. This post belongs to Jonathan Tillman (@thetillshow), one of the many great people that I have met through twitter. If you're not following him, slap yourself then hit that follow button! Anyways, Till has his own blog, Fundamentally UnSound, one of the great basketball blogs out there, hence the name, the FU Mock Draft Spec-tac-u-lar. He gathered six of his twitter companions to participate and I am honored to be one of the participants because these guys really know their stuff. So I will introduce the other participants and get down to the draft, which is in a few hours.

1. Washington Wizards - John Wall.

John Wall is the consensus number one pick in this draft. For a draft that I think will end up being remembered more for cats who will be drafted later, Wall will get the chance to be a star right away in Chocolate City. We saw what Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans have accomplished in their early careers, and Wall is the next Memphis guard who will come and make a similar impact.

2. Philadelphia 76ers - Evan Turner

Man, this draft bites.

I really tried to be hip and trendy. I really wanted to select a dude with tremendous upside potential and see if Dougie Collins could form a perennial All-Star from the rich composite. Oh yeah, we already saw him try that with Kwame. Ouch.

Let’s get REAL. The Sixers can either eschew offense and become the East Coast version of the ’07 Warriors, or play stagnant half-court game all the way to next year’s lottery.

I’d heavily bet the latter.

So, with the second pick in the fantabolous FU Mock Draft, I snagged Evan Turner. He’s traditional, he’s standard, he’s…exactly what you expect your #2 pick in the draft to be.

Plus, he comes with Club Trillion as an added bonus.

Not bad, if I do say so myself.

Who’s got next? No, no…anything but YOU, WNBA.

3. New Jersey Nets - Demarcus Cousins

With the 3rd pick Russian Cuban, Jay-Z and the Nets select DeMarcus Cousins from Kentucky. Because both Favors and Cousins are already good, Cousins does have better size and I think more upside. Plus, if they get Boozer/Amare then do they need another 6'9" forward? Cousins plays both positions.

Let the crucifixion begin.

4. Minnesota Timberwolves - Wesley Johnson

With the 4th pick, I'm taking Wesley Johnson of Syracuse. He's long, athletic, and can do a little bit of everything on the court. I wrestled between taking either Johnson and Greg Monroe, but Johnson seems to be the most likely sure bet.

5. Sacramento Kings - Derrick Favors

With the 5th pick in the 2010 FU Draft, the Sacramento Kings select, Derrick Favors from Georgia Tech. Favors solves the Kings biggest weaknesses. He'll boost the defensive rebounding, shot blocking, and post defense.

6. Golden State Warriors - Greg Monroe

With the 6th pick in the FU mock draft spec-tac-u-lar, the Golden State Warriors select Greg Monroe. Forward, Georgetown University *drops mic*

Monroe will be the third left-handed power forward Golden State has acquired in recent years. He's definitely the most skilled of the three. He'll provide points in the paint, as well as space for Curry, Morrow, and Ellis to operate. Hopefully Don Nelson's weirded out version of Basketball offense showcases his strengths instead of making him an unknown (see: Randolph, Anthony).

7. Detroit Pistons - Cole Aldrich

*Thoughts on the way to the podium* ("Sigh......I really want to trade this pick")

With the 7th pick in the FU Mock Draft Spectacular, We, The Detroit Pistons, select Cole "Cole Play" Aldrich, 6'10 Forward/Center out of Kansas University.

Around the time that I chose Cole “Cole Play” Aldrich as the 7^th pick to the Pistons, I believed that they would draft him, but now, I highly doubt the Pistons will take him. Despite my “failure” as the Pistons GM, I will stand by my pick and we will see what happens tomorrow night (tonight) and in the future.

After an embarrassing 26-55 season, the Pistons find themselves in the draft lottery, unfamiliar territory for a team that hadn’t missed the playoffs since the 2000-2001 season. With Ben Wallace, Jason Maxiell, and Kwame Brown in the frontcourt, it is a no-brainer that the Pistons should draft a Center. I’m almost 100% positive that DeMarcus Cousins will not be available by the time that the Pistons are on the clock, leaving the board wide open for the Pistons to draft Ekpe Udoh, Ed Davis or Aldrich.

I chose Aldrich because he is the “safe pick” and he just seems like a Joe Dumars kind of guy. He plays extremely hard on both ends and has a high basketball IQ. He reminds me of a more athletic Joel Pryzbilla. Now, I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but hey, let’s just view it as good for now. Either way it goes, this pick (or any other pick for the remainder of the Dumars Era), will never erase the calamity of the 2003 draft pick. Sorry.

8. L.A. Clippers - Xavier Henry

*sees Terrell's pick, and now has even more reason to believe this draft class is diluted, and just not that good*

With the eighth pick, the Los Angeles Clippers select Xavier Henry, from the University of Kansas.

You can make the case that Xavier Henry is the most well-rounded Jawhawk on last year's team. He's got the tools to be a contributor right away, and if he ends up in the right situation, he'll end up earning a legit spot in a team's rotation.

9. Utah Jazz - Ekpe Udoh

*David Stern walks to podium, looks at Till Show, then sheepishly backs away...*

With the "woulda been yours Donnie if Isiah didn't trade it for Eddy Curry" New York Knicks/Utah Jazz #9 pick, Benji Clan selects Ekpe Udoh.

Yup, a project big man. Perfect.

Utah has always been hella conventional. They need an athletic big who will protect the paint and grab boards. They need someone who can push Bynum/Gasol around and catch 'oops from The Best PG in the Game Right Now (D-Will).

Ekpe Udoh'll give you that. He’s a hard-hat guy, if any of those even exist anymore.

Plus, he'll give them one helluva excuse not to re-up with Boozer.

Udoh'll definitely have to show his white side (his Hassan Whiteside?) if he wants to get love from the heaps of snow and Mormons in Utah. Which, since he's from Baylor...he definitely has. Or better yet, let's just see how Jazz fans react to having guys named Ekpe and Sundiata on their team. If Mutumbo decides to play another season at 52, maybe my dream of a West African starting five can happen. Maybe.

10. Indiana Pacers - Avery Bradley

With the 10th pick of the draft, the Indiana Pacers officially make the biggest reach in the draft...

The Indiana Pacers select....Avery Bradley from the University of Texas.

Why? Because at #10 they're either going to have to take a project big man or draft another swingman (they already have Danny Granger and Brandon Rush) plus the more and more I watched Ed Davis I became less and less impressed.

Give me Avery Bradley, I'll take his uber-athleticism and defense and hope his offensive game blossoms into anything that resembles Russell Westbrook or Rajon Rondo.

11. New Orleans Hornets - Gordon Haywood

"With the 11th pick in the NBA Draft, the New Orleans Hornets have selected....GORdon (caps for effect) Hayward of Butler University."

The crowd instantly remembers Butler's incredible Cinderella dance this past year that ended with a nail biting loss to Duke in the National Championship. They cheer him on. New Orleans fans are excited, Chris Paul is optimistic, and Gordon is absolutely fearful of the idea of leaving Indiana for the N-O.

Lil Wayne, unfortunately, is unavailable for comment...

12. Memphis Grizzlies - Al-Farouq Aminu

*Walks to the podium with some Elvis swag*

With the 12th pick in the FU Mock Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies select Al-Farouq Aminu out of Wake Forest.

Aminu gives Memphis some insurance in case Rudy Gay leaves. Aminu could be a Josh Smith clone. He's a freak of an athlete who can run and jump out of the gym.

13. Toronto Raptors - Solomon Alabi

With the 13th pick, the Toronto Raptors select: Solomon Alabi. Center, Florida State

He's big and athletic. Toronto's likely to lose Bosh to free agency (read: wherever Lebron goes), so they're gonna need a frontline player. Alabi will impact on the defensive end and allow Andrea Bargnani to focus more on scoring. Think of what Serge Ibaka is to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

14. Houston Rockets - Ed Davis

*Breaking News* The Houston Rockets have traded this pick along with Luis Scola, Shane Battier and Jermaine Taylor in a sign-and-trade to the Toronto Raptors for Chris Bosh and.....*SNAPS OUT OF MY DREAM AND SOUTHSIDES TO THE PODIUM*

With the 14th pick in the FU NBA Draft Spectacular, The Houston Rockets select, Ed Davis out of the University of North Carolina.

Daryl Morey instantly gets on the phone and starts looking for teams interested in a trade.

This pick is near and dear to me, as I am drafting for the team that I have loved since 1990. I wouldn’t be surprised if Daryl Morey trades up or down in the draft. I will tell you this, by the time the 14^th pick comes around, the 2010 NBA Draft will be completely wide open and everyone will be tossing their mock drafts in the trash can.

Anyways, I believe in Daryl Morey and I don’t think that he will make a bad decision here. Although the Rockets need to make a Yao-Insurance pick here (A Center who can come in and contribute during the yearly Yao early-season, mid-season, late-season or post-season injury), expect the Rockets to draft the best player available by the time this pick comes around. Initially I “drafted” Ed Davis, but I’m convinced that he won’t be the BEST player available. This pick is too unpredictable, but I’m expecting Davis, Patrick Patterson, Paul George, or Al-Farouq Aminu to slide down to this pick.

Never Question God- R.I.P Nathan Anderson

Yesterday a dear friend, and a beloved brother of the Oakwood College/University (my alma mater in Huntsville, AL) circle, Nathan Anderson, passed away after getting in an accident while on his motorcycle. While I didn't know him personally, I knew, through others, that he was a wonderful man. Talented, smart, funny, cool, God-fearing and many other adjectives can explain him as a person. I mean, my perception of him was that he really was a great guy, even though we never spoke.
After hearing about his death, it is easy us to question God and wonder why this would happen to such a great guy like Nate. And that's expected of us, because death hurts. We never know why God does the things that he does and why he allows some things happen to some people.
After learning about this untimely death, I couldn't question God and only one thing came to my mind as to why God would allow this to happen.
The impact that Nathan had on peoples lives was enormous. The moment he passed, my twitter/facebook/bbm was flooded with sadness and grief over his death. He touched so many lives of people that he knew and through his music, the lives of people that he didn't know.
I truly believe that Nathan was right with God and with God allowing this to happen, it was truly a message to all of those with any connection to Nate, that we know not the hour or the day when our time will come and that we need to get our lives right so that our calling and election is sure and we can be in that number when God returns. And a lot of us are still playing games, even though we see the signs of the times playing out right before our eyes (myself included)!
A song that Nathan played so passionately for Dynamic Praise immediately comes to mind when I think about his death. "A better day, after awhile, there will be a better day, a better day, ooo child, there will be a better day, after awhile."
My friends, there will be a better day. Know that God loves you and he wants you to be in that number so he can meet you in heaven. Take advantage of the time you have on this earth because you never know when your time will come.
Please continue to keep The Anderson Family in prayer. Stay encouraged and I Love You All.

My Top-20 most hated athletes- Part 2

Ok, so tomorrow came a little later than expected, but the second half of my hate list is finally here! (shout out to my friends who constantly remind me to write, you know who you are) Well, I won't waste any more time, "Oh Ley DO It"!!!!

#9. Barry Bonds. How can a man so big sound like that?! Your earring bothers me and the sooner you stop lying we'll forgive you! We know you're on that needle BARRY!

#8 Jacque Vaughn. This picture is quite fitting of the career you should've been in! Listen Jacque, this is the highest you will ever be on any list! I hate that you even step foot on an NBA court. And you have a ring?! My blood boils..

Honorable Mention- Kris Brown. This picture has been the scene way too often this season for Houston Texans fans. Kris, you lost at least 5 games for the Texans this year!!!!! When I see you, I'll show u how to kick alright...straight to ure FACE!

#7. Tracy McGrady. Let me give you all a background of my "relationship" with T-Mac. When it came time to pattern my game after a player, I chose T-Mac (All offense, lazy on defense, lol). When it came time to buy my basketball shoes for the season, I walked right by the Air Jordan IX's (without a thought) and purchased,,,,,some T-Mac's. While arguing who was the greatest player in the league (2000-2004ish), I went to bat for T-Mac. Hell, when you think of a nickname for me (Terrell McCoy) what do you get......T-Mac! Get the picture yet?! Now, imagine how I felt when T-Mac, the player who was my "Jordan" (in that era), was traded to MY favorite team, the HOUSTON ROCKETS! I was on cloud nine.......THOUSAND!!! Well, despite the hype that he created, my hopes were quickly shot down by his failures (playoff losses, body parts, LIFE, etc). The only reason he isn't higher on this list is because I was his biggest fan at one point in my life. So T-Mac, I hate you for ruining my Rockets. I hate you for your injuries, your crying, your lack of heart, your selfishness and your impatience this season. The nerve of that guy! So yea, its been a sour end to our "relationship"

#6. Karl Malone. The Mailman....yea right! Karl, when did you EVER deliver? In 97? Uh uh. 98? Naw mayne. Oh ok, well what about when you left the Jazz THIRST for a title? Nope, no deliveries from me. Yea, we all know Karl. Everything about you is annoying! The wristbands, the meaningless shhh you said at the FT line, the corny celebrations, neglect of kids...did I miss something?!

Honorable Mention- Ahmad Rashad. Has ur career been ANYTHING since MJ retired? You loved him more than you loved that beautiful, intelligent, oh so sexy wife of yours! You disgust me so much that you don't even deserve a picture!

Honorable Mention- Phil Mickelson. The nerve of you to actually think you're better than Tiger! And I'll smack that stupid smirk you have on your face since he's on indefinite leave!

#5. Tim Tebow. Virgin my behind! I hate the goodie two shoe, turning brawds down, media hoggin' son of a gun! And don't get me started on his W'accuracy!

#4 Tom Brady. SMH...Tom Terrific??? tsss, more like Tom TERRIBLE! I watched every moment of his last playoff game JUST to watch him fail!!! He's a good quarterback, but he's a product of "the hoody" and his "I'm too good for you attitude" really pisses me off! So when he hits the field, I will continue to yell "Hey Tom, break a leg!"

#3. Brett Favre. Twitter wouldn't give me enough characters to describe my hate for him but I don't want to waste too much time on him! And I've never really liked him (Story from 2008)He's selfish and an attention whore. Brett, Go home and RETIRE ALREADY! I know you don't want to go back to Kilaniga, Mississippi, or whatever, but you've got to get the hell out of the NFL! I'm sick of you!

#2 John Stockton. The short shorts, the dirty play, and then when this feisty little mo-fo broke my young heart with this shot in the 1997 Western Conference Finals--> http://bit.ly/M9657 . I just shed a tear again! I wanted to take a crowbar to his knees with a Jeff Bagwell/Craig Biggio/Ken Caminiti-like swing after that shot! I never like Stockton before then and now I HATE HIM! Watch your back Mr. Stockton! I'm an angry Rockets fan seeking revenge!

#1. Kobe Bryant. Sigh,,,,I HATE HIM and everything he stands for! From the swagger jacking of MJ, to his constant whining for calls, to his family waiting for him at halftime! I mean, WHO DOES THAT?!? Stop trying to convince us that you're a "family-man"! I hate the cockiness, the smirk, EVERYTHING! Oh and he's "black mamba?!" Satan was a snake too.....I'm JUST SAYINNNNNNNNNN......

My Top-20 most hated athletes- Part 1

I asked a question the other day on Twitter (Follow Me - @PrideOfLR) asking "Who is your most hated athlete and why?" not really expecting much response from my followers because they usually leave me hanging, but this time I got an overwhelming response. It isn't unusual for people to have a certain dislike about some athletes, but what I feel about them is deeper than a dislike, it really is! I seriously need help for being such a hateful person towards these athletes. But anyways, here is part 1 of my 20 most hated athletes! Enjoy!

#20. Tony Brothers- not an athlete, but a ref (he deals with athletes). He made the WORST call I've ever seen in my life in the 2008 playoffs. With time ticking away in the 4th quarter in a CRUCIAL game 2 of the Rockets v. Jazz playoff series (I hate the Jazz as well, which made the call that much bitter), this Tony Brothers character called a foul on Luis Scola because while watching a flopping Andrei Kirilenko go by him,,,,,,,,,,,,while his eyes were fixed on the 3-pt LINE!!!!!!!!! Tony Brothers- Watch your back!!!! (You and your unibrow!)

#19 Lebron James. Yes Mr. James, you made my list! Listen, I love you as an athlete him as an athlete but your blatant disrespect for the game (super traveling, no handles, dancing, etc) makes me sick! Get some handle, CHILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL on taking 4 steps on the regular (I know Dru Joyce taught you better than that) and maybe you won't make next years list!

#18 Rajon Rondo. Take a good look at his form,,,,well, for as long as you can without getting upset! Listen, I know for a fact that my form isn't the most model form to have, but I can make buckets. The fact that Rondo is so successful without having a jumpshot really pisses me off!!!! I mean really, what were you doing in the off season?! Was Kobe cleaning his nails while giving you 50 feet in the 2008 NBA Finals not enough of a sign that your shot needs work?!?!? Rondo, I see greatness in you, but if you don't feel the need to work on that God-awful jumpshot (I don't even want to call it that) of yours, then I'm afraid you'll just have to stay behind CP3 & Deron Williams. You don't want that now, do you?!

#17. Rafael Nadal. The hair. The left handed-ness. Him thinking he's better than my boy Roger Federer. I hate every part of him!!! No need for more words, you don't deserve it RAFA!

Honorable Mention- Jason Terry. He's over aggressive. He thinks he's nice. He has a stupid celebration for his stupid nickname,,,,Jason Terry, you and your XXXXXXXXXXXL headband need to sit down, PLEASE!!!

#16. Bobby Jackson. You see this picture?! I had to watch the scenario in this picture for an ENTIRE SERIES!!! Deron Williams OWNED Mr. Jackson to the point it was unbearable to watch! Whether it was air-balling a three pointer or missing a fast break layup, Mr. Jackson always found a way to mess up!!! Oh and did I mention that we (The Rockets) traded Bonzi Wells AND Mike James for him?!?! (I'm starting to get angry all over again! Simply put, from the time he put on that Rockets jersey, he single handedly made me hate watching my team.

#15. Allen Iverson. He is one of the most selfish people on earth. A 34 year old man with braids and now he's STARTING in the All-Star game while averaging 14 PPG?!?! PUH-LEASE! The only team A.I. should START for is the Pacers! NEXT!

#14 Anthony Carter. He should feel honored that I even thought about him!!! I ask myself everyday, "why do u have a job in the NBA?!?!" Uggggghhhh!

Honorable Mention. Tyler Hansborough. I hate u, from your never quit attitude all the way to your stupid form. And what are your eyes so open FORRRRR?!

#13. Roy Williams. Cowboys fans, I'm with you on this one. Roy, what is your purpose in life, because it sure doesn't seem like catching is a top priority for you!

#12. Sasha Vujacic. Are u really that great of a shooter that u shoot a three pointer in a 1 on 5 fast break?! NOT EVEN! And stop crying to the ref, wait, never mind, I guess you learn from a certain someone! Hmmmm....

#11 Bruce Bowen. Everything about you is annoying. Your bald head, your defense, your dirty defense, your God-awful offense, your voice and now, your bow-tie!!!!!!!

#10. Pau Gasol. Do u ever comb your hair? Or is that how they get down in Spain? Your celebration, I hate it! Your scowl, I HATE IT. Oh yea, and your form, yup, that too

Throwback Thursdays-John Starks

Throwback Thursdays is BACK!!!!!!! And how ironic is it that one of the best defenders of "The G.O.A.T." (see article below) receives the honor of having the first Throwback Thursday of 2010. We may not remember Starks because he played in the Jordan Era, but the guy still had game. With his physical defense, slashing attacks to the basket, 3-pt shooting, and a fiery passion for the game, Starks won the hearts of New Yorkers during his eight year stint in New York. His hard-work was rewarded with an All-Star appearance in 1994.

The G.O.A.T, Michael Jordan, recently appeared on the Jay Leno Show (another story for another day) and was asked 10 questions by the late-night host.I know you're wondering, "Why this interview?". Well, for me, I believe we live in the day and age where the NBA is full of phony and stolen personalities (I won't mention any names). Anyways, it was refreshing to see M.J., and to see him in good spirits (Must be because his Bobcats are winning). Anyways, here is the interview. Enjoy!

I want to ask you guys a question, How many books do you read in a year.......not counting the books that you HAVE to read for school?!

Well, my sister sprung this question on me while we were driving and like a deer in headlights, I was caught, stuck, looking for a way out, but the question hit me.....HARD! I could have lied and said, " Like 10", but the 20 second pause would've given away my lie. So I was honest. Quietly and ashamedly, I told her that I MAY read 3 books a year! THREE!!!!!! Now I don't know if your answer was as pathetic as my answer, but I know that we (I) have to do better! I know you're wondering to yourself, "where is he going with this?", "why did his sister randomly asked him this?". Well, she asked me that because she ran across this blog that poses a challenge for you to read 20 books from 10 categories in 2010. Now I'm not one that does New Years Resolutions, but I'm a man that loves to be challenged so I am accepting this challenge and I am challenging YOU to do the same!

First and Foremost, to all you big men out there, I want to apologize for the lack of Power Forwards and Centers in the Throwback Thursdays section. Next week I have a very special big man for all of you guys! As for this week, we're going to feature another point guard who kept on amazing us with his "organized street-ball". Who?! I'm glad you asked! Drum roll please...........

And your Throwback Player of the Week is-Kenny Anderson. Silky smooth handles, amazing court vision and an above average jumper made Anderson one of my all time favorite point guards. His glory years came while he played for the New Jersey Nets from 1991-1996. In his 3rd NBA season, he nearly averaged a double double with 18.8 ppg and 9.6 apg. Those numbers earned him his only All-Star appearance. As the story often goes, sadly, Anderson's career was riddled with injuries, keeping him from reaching his full potential and turning this talented point guard into a journeyman player.

Anderson now coaches The Hombres of the Slamball League (I think it airs on Comedy Central.......if not, IT SHOULD!). Anyways, enjoy the video and comment please!!!

Throwback Thursdays

This week, we have a very special Throwback Thursday. Normally, this section is for special players who we remember made their mark on the league, but may be somewhat forgotten.

As I got to thinking about a throwback player for this week, I started to think, "there are special players, but there are also some very special teams". So in honor of the team that brought the circus to the hardwood, this Throwback Thursday is dedicated to the 1999-2004 Sacramento Kings. I mean, of course the greatest show on the court was the original Showtime Lakers and the '96-'98 Bulls (based on Jordan and Pippen alone!), but these Sacramento Kings, under the tutelage of Rick Adelman (now coach of my Houston Rockets), had that certain "spizazzz" about them that you can never forget! I mean, really, what team do you remember throwing 10 precise behind the back passes on one possession?!?! Ok, so maybe I exaggerated a little bit, but they certainly made basketball fun (except for the not winning a ring part. sorry.). Hats off to Vlade "King of Flop" Divac, Doug Christie, C-Webb, Jason "White Chocolate" Williams, Bobby "6th man" Jackson, Mike Bibby, Peja Stojakovic, and Hedo Turkoglu and the Maloof Brothers for bringing these players together. Thanks for the memories.

These words came from this years Tour de France winner, Alberto Contador. He went on to say,"He's a great rider and he did a great Tour. Another thing is on a personal level, where I have never admired him and never will." OUCH! Now, normally I really wouldn't care much about this feud, being that I'm not really a cycling fan, but I'm a fan of sports, so I said, "Oh, what the heck!"

This recent beef is stirring up the cycling world and is the cycling version of Kobe v. Shaq, Jim Jackson v. Jamal Mashburn v. Jason Kidd (Not really, but its pretty heated), or Terrell Owens v. ANY of his teammates (watch out Buffalo!) lol!

My colleagues over at Page 3 beat me to this post, but I just had to post this amazing video. In the latest installment of classic Michael Jordan Gatorade commercials, the creative minds at Gatorade honored M.J. not only with 6 limited edition bottles of Gatorade, but with a bottle collage at an undisclosed location on the Southside of Chicago. The collage uses 14,641 bottles of Gatorade and took 16 hours to finish.

The theme of these limited edition bottles is Jordan Then, Now, and Forever. Jordan Then (1 and 2) comes in Championship Blue, commemorating him overcoming being cut at Laney High and his UNC days. Jordan Now (3 and 4)comes in Championship Gold, which highlights his activities with Jordan Brand, Jordan Motorsports and the Charlotte Bobcats. Jordan Forever (5 and 6) comes in Championship Red, remembering his flu game and his legacy as, listen closely Kobe fans, the GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER EVER.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can make these collages, although I'm still a little baffled to where the "brown" Gatorade came from to make out Micheal's skin tone, lol! Either way, That's G!

Throwback Thursdays

After watching those Tim Hardaway highlights last week, it was easy to choose the player worthy to grace Throwback Thursdays.

Rodney "Rod" Strickland, in my mind, was one of the most underrated point guards of all-time. He was a journeyman early in his career, but found a home in Washington for the Bullets/Wizards. In his first season in Washington, Strickland averaged 17.2 ppg and 8.9 apg helping the Bullets make the playoffs in 1997 for the first time in 8 seasons. He ended his career with nearly 8,000 assists. He is now an assistant coach for John Calipari at The University of Kentucky. Much love to Rod Strickland. Enjoy the Video!

I haven't spoken on the Chris Brown/Rihanna incident, mainly because I really didn't know what to think about the situation. I mean, I do believe that Chris Brown handled her in a way that a woman NEVER needs to be handled, but I refuse to believe that C. Breezy went Kimbo Slice on Rihanna, as the picture would show. I mean, hey, maybe he did do that much damage, maybe he didn't, maybe he did some and she did the rest. Who knows! Since there is not video of the incident, we will never know exactly what went down, because we all know that if they both speak on this incident, it will be a matter of he say/she say. Anyways, Chris Brown issued a video apology yesterday. It seems sincere, but practiced. I would like to know what you think of the situation and apology. Lets discuss it.

I cannot tell u how excited I am about this section of P.O.L.R. ExPress! Throwback Thursdays came to existence when me and a couple of my friends started a mass text war to see who could come up with the most random throwback player. We called these text messages, Throwback Player of the day. A dedicated basketball fan and avid card collector, Brenton Harrison (http://tgiftennessee.blogspot.com) usually came up with some of the best throwback players, so in his honor, I am starting off this installment with one of his favorite throwback players.

Throwback Player of the Week- Timothy Duane Hardaway (Tim Hardaway)

With a crossover so wicked, layup game proper, and a floater that would even make Tony Parker jealous, Tim Hardaway is more than worthy to be highlighted as the Throwback Player of the Week. The 5-time All-Star dazzled wherever he went and often sent his defenders tap dancing with his crossover, which was dubbed the UTEP two-step! I mean, who has a nickname for their CROSSOVER!!!!! Mankind, this is Gandolf the White, and I bring you greetings from the lands of Middle Earth. As the President of Wizard Affairs I have sworn my allegiance to the Washington Wizard’s…but I would rather eat at Taco Bueno for 10,000 years than to support that defilement and defamation of character, so I made the switch. Lately, I’ve been super busy taming nazgûl [think python meets tiger but the size of a whale, with the attitude of a wolverine and teeth like “Yuck Mouth”] for our annual Elrond [basically a circus] and my old bat of-a wife keeps complaining that my Black Berry is going Khazad-dûm [basically krazy] and if I don’t shut it up, she’s going to sing like Marry J Blige and Keyshia Cole put together. [(((Yikes)))] So I dassssshed inside to prevent this travesty, grabbed my phone, to find that I keep getting tweets from ex-Magic carpet riders that are buying tickets to the “Laker Show.” What the Parth Galen is a “Laker” anyway!? Spell check doesn’t know! They should be called the Fakers! because they yell when they want the ref to blow the whistle.

I digress.

You know, I’ve broken the “Do not intervene in Mankind affairs” rule over and over again, which could, by the way, cost me my Wizardship, JUST to keep things interesting this season and ya’ll still flip flop. I hate that (profane)!!!!

Down 2-1 to the Philadelphia 76ers, and the hot dog sales went right out the door with the fans. Trailing 3-2 against the Celtics, all hope was thought to be lost because Boston was a perfect 32-0 in the postseason when it possessed such an advantage. The Magic couldn't break history, right? You doubters foolishly left in droves. Burned at the buzzer by LeBron James [quite a handsome young man might I add; we Black Berry Messenger on Thursday nights] in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the panic-stricken once again jumped ship, lacking faith that the Magic could overcome such a heartbreaking defeat. But what happened? And now, after a 101-96 Game 2 overtime road defeat put them in a 2-0 Finals hole to the “Faker Show”, and all of the sudden people don’t wanna believe in Magic.

Phil Jackson is 43-0 when his teams win the first game of the finals series, SO WHAT! The GOAT just passed Frank Ramsey into 19th place on the all time Finals scoring list, SO WHAT! Lee miss one of the biggest lay ups of his life, SO WHAT!

News flash, the Magic has been down this road already! "We were down to Philadelphia 2-1 and were down to the Boston Celtics and went on to win the series," said Magic All-Star forward Rashard Lewis, who exploded for 34 points on Sunday. "This is nothing new for us."

Although a 2-0 disadvantage can discourage even the most faithful fan, based on the setup of the NBA's postseason schedule, the series is statistically exactly where it's supposed to be.

"The Lakers did a good job of protecting their home and now it's our turn to do the same thing," Dwight Howard explained. "We've been in some tough situations, we've just got to fight our way out."

The Magic won’t be the first team to execute such a comeback.

In NBA history, three other squads battled back from the same Finals deficit: the 1969 Celtics, 1977 Blazers and 2006 Heat.

And the Magic are going to be the fourth.

"I was still in Miami in 2006 when they lost both games in Dallas and then were way down in the third quarter in Game 3 at home, came back and won that one and Dallas never won another game," Stan Van Gundy explained. "You know a series can change. You've got to take it one game at a time."

The Magic will take the first step on Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC. Well, its Uruk-hai [basically breakfast time] and I’m starved.

Ok, so was it just me, or was yesterday one of the best days in sports, EVER!!! I mean, the real G.O.A.T Roger Federer started the day off right by taking the French Open to complete his collection. Then Tiger Woods was just being Tiger, coming from behind to take the Memorial (Its just his warm up for the U.S. Open), and then the NBA FINALS!!! Oh man! I was in sports heaven! Anyways, on to Game 2.

Not to knock Courtney Lee, but kid, you blew it. Point blank. No question about it. 2 wide open looks in crunch time, two misses. But enough ridicule on the rookie (who I am a HUGE fan of). While Game 2 was a much better game to watch than Game 1, the result was the same. Lakers 101, Magic 96. And although the game went to OT, it definitely could have been won in regulation (ahem, Kobe NOT passing to his THREE open teammates!!!). But enough of that! My players of game are Lamar Odom and Rashard Lewis. L.O. had one of the most impressive performances of his career shooting 8-9, along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks! As many of you predicted, the series would be Adv L.A if Odom hoops and so far, so good. Rashard Lewis definitely came alive in Game 2! His 34, 11 and 7 definitely kept ORL in contention for the game. Unfortunately, the slightest mistakes by an inexperienced team cost them the game.

Hello everyone! So sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but we here at http://polrexpress.blogspot.com were going through some major changes, but we're back (and we're back just in time)!!!! Its this time of year that always has TPE (new nickname???) very excited and that time is THE NBA FINALS!!!!!!! I'm hype, my sidekick definitely is hype, heck, even Lil Wayne is hype for this! (Ro, u gon love this) This is somewhat of a special time for me specifically because it was around this time last year that The P.O.L.R. ExPRESS got its start. Last year, I asked everybody to try to predict the outcome of the Finals. The popular pick was Lakers in 6 and Boston in 7 and Boston proved us wrong by winning in 6! I wanted everybody to be unbiased in their predictions, so lets see what happens this time around! Let's go!

Rochard Robinson (Sidekick)-

Welcome to this years NBA Finals! Excitement permeates the atmosphere as this has been some of the BEST playoff basketball my eyes have ever seen. The Spurs-Mavs rivalry (Big Ups to the Mavs for making something out of nothing this season), Rockets in the 2^nd round!!!!!!! (Big Ups to the Rockets for FINALLLY getting to 2^nd base…bunch’a prudes! [sidebar: good to see Yao play inna playoff game…]), last years champions exposed by perhaps this years champions??? More GOAT-ty from the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time), King James’ MAGICal Shot against the Magic! Then, Superman to save the day!…..Man o Man! This postseason is almost as exciting as my honeymoon that starts June 15^th! I will be relaxing in a beautiful tropical paradise, with my Heaven Sent, smelling the sea breeze and watching the sunset to the tune of the GOAT’s first NBA MVP title and a 4^th ring for his display case…now that's l.i.f.e. (Laker’s In Five Efforts)

Sidekick out

Eric Adams (Oakwood Ambassador/Laker fan/Law Student) - While this series will be a tough match up for both teams I am picking the Lakers to win in six. Here's why:

1. The Magic won't have Jameer Nelson*. The Lakers biggest defensive weakness is their vulnerability to quick penetrating guards (i.e. Aaron Brooks and Deron Williams). Because of this, the Lakers will be able to double off of Rafer Alston who, while being a decent shooter and penetrator just can't be expected to produce efficiently for four games. *(At the time this was written, Nelson was still on the injured list)

2. Dwight Howard won't be playing against two centers past their prime. Let's not forget that in the Celtics series Dwight was good (not great) against Kendrick Perkins. Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol are not as good of defenders as K. Perkins but they're young enough, long enough, and big enough to at least keep up with Dwight.

3. Rashard Lewis won't be guarded by Anderson Varajeo. Lamar Odom proposes a much better match up for Lewis and if Lamar plays on the offensive end anywhere near what he did in the last two games of the Conference Finals, then Rashard's defensive deficiencies will be thoroughly exposed.

If the Magic continue to shoot the 3 ball well, they can legitimately beat LA. I just believe that LA will be able to contest the three pointers much better than the Cavs or Celtics and if both teams are playing at the top of their games I just don't see any team beating LA.

Lastly, the Lakers have Kobe Bryant who, contrary to popular opinion, is still the best player in the game and will prove so during this series.

Derek Long (Oakwood Ambassador/Orlando fan) - If the magic three ball is falling then I have the Magic in 6 games, but if the Lakers get Dwight in foul trouble and if Lamar and Trevor can shut down Rashard and Hedo, then the Lakers in 5 games, easy.

Kwasi Agyeman (SWAU hooper/Med Student/Kobe fan) - I say Lakers in 6. Kobe gets his ring without Shaq, and all the Kobe haters finally shut the h*** up.......(a little hostility there Kwasi?!?!?) But seriously though, I do think the Lakers are gonna win, although the matchups are interesting I dont think they will be as big a factor in this series since the Lakers have the length to match up with the Magic's wing players. but I'm curious to see who plays more, Gasol or Bynum? and about the point guards, Jameer will give his team an emotional shot in the arm when he comes back, but he will be ineffective....he practiced for the first time on monday..... and lakers are deeper! Alston vs. Fisher might go either way but no one can say Anthony Johnson will win his match up with either Farmar or Shannon Brown....Lakers have a better bench which translates well for the playoffs.....Lakers in 6 or 7

Stevie Valles (Fellow Sports enthusiast/Ohio bred/Lakers & Kobe fan)- I see L.A. winning in 6. Dwight will have a solid series but I dont see Hedo and Rashard doin what they did to the Cavs to L.A. with L.O, Ariza, Luke(who is underated) and if KB24 has to, him as well...Shane Battier has made Kobe step his game and now anyone guarding him just can't...I do think Rafer Alston and Courtney Lee are the difference makers in this series. If they ball out, we (Lakers) may have an issue...Kobe will get Finals M.V.P...then the stadium roof will open and a dove will land on his shoulder and he will ascend unto the clouds never to return again. (TPE-Ummmm......)

David Cox (Spurs fan/Knicks supporter) - Lakers should be able to have a rebounding advantage ... but not that big because of Dwight Howard. Lakers pick and roll defense isn't great ... Orlando's pick and roll offense is the best in the league. If Bynam and Gasol are on the court at the same time, who guards Rashard Lewis? ... Can the Lakers depend on Bynam to expose Lewis in the post and on the boards during those minutes? ... When Lewis pulls his man out to the 3 pt line, can they keep Howard off the offensive boards? ... How far can Gasol pull Dwight Howard away from the basket? Can the Lakers guard Howard 1 on 1? (I don't think so).

For me the biggest problem for the Lakers is they don't play 48 minutes of defense ... not even close. Any lapses on defense will mean an automatic big run from Orlando, as u saw from all the blown leads in Cleveland. I don't know if the Lakers know what they up against, so I'll give Orlando game 1. Lakers rebound in a must win game 2.

But I've found that unlike other series, SIZE wins in the NBA FINALS. They blow less whistles, maybe thats what it is, or the pressure of the game meaning less made shots, and more rebounds. Because of the pick and roll advantage for ORL, I don't think Los Angeles can win without winning rebounds. So I think the wild card mite be Odom. The only way the Lakers can win the series in my opinion is if they win rebounds. Odom has to be able to guard Rashard Lewis, and hit the boards, and it would help if he could score a little in the paint. He has to make a difference in the paint. 2nd wild card is Bynum. He's gotta get boards and score in the paint during his minutes.

Can the Pietrus/Howard connection stop Kobe in the 4th? Can dat combo stop the 4th qtr Kobe/Gasol pick and roll? Can the Magic get 4th qtr calls IN LA? Can they get good 4th qtr shots IN LA?

There's a lot of unanswered questions ...This means that coaching will play a big part in the series, and here is why I must pick LA to win the series. I give LA game 3, game 5 (IN ORL), a loss in game 6 at home, and a WIN in GAME 7.

If Orlando gets swept I'll look retarded for this long answer. (TPE- You sure will....)

Nicholas Vernon (Knicks fan/Kobe sacker/bum at 2K!) - I respect and love orlando for all they've done this yr...I know Dwight will get his.....one day...i just don't see Van Gundy beating Phil Jackson.

(TPE- Hmmm, you are right. Coaching will play a major part in this. And something to ponder, Patrick Ewing is teaching Dwight how to get a ring......OUCH)

Brenton Harrison (Grizzlies fan/Knows his basketball....except for his hating on Joe Johnson)- Lakers in 6. The Magic are the only team with a point guard who isn't good enough to abuse Fisher. Plus the Magic win by exploiting mismatches,and I don't see any major major ones this series.

Krystal Thompson (Lone Female asked for her opinion/Knicks fan/sexier version of Jemele Hill, lol! She knows her stuff yall)- I'm honored to be the only female in this thread!!! (TPE-We're honored to have you Krystal)

Now for my prediction: : : With Howard in the middle, Courtney Lee, Turkoglu, and Alston, all of whom can shoot the three pointer, pass and rebound, supporting Dwight Howard, and Peitrus coming off the bench the Magic have a great offensive game!

The Lakers are a solid team from top to bottom with good scorers in Kobe, Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol, good defenders in Trevor Ariza and Luke Walton PLUS a Deep bench! SO There’s no doubt that IF Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol play to their potential, that they should be able to wear down the starting five of the Magic! And they have home court!!

With that being said.............. Lewis, Turkoglu and Alston all can at least slow down Bryant while Gasol, Odom or Bynum have no shot at slowing down Dwight Howard.

I'm going against the odds, MAGIC in 7!!!

Anthony Davis (Magic fan/King Twitterer -@asdavis10) - I want my magic to win. (TPE- so much for being unbiased......) I think we have a really good chance. The regular season doesn't mean anything now but I think it shows how we can beat the Lakers. Rafer has filled in good for Jameer and I still think we have the better point guard matchup. we shoot a high volume of 3s which will always keep us in the game. Pietrus and Lee will do a better job keeping Kobe out of the paint than they did against Lebron. I don't think Dwight will be able to be contained unless Gasol and Bynum can manage to stay on the court together for long periods of time. I doubt it because Bynum is always in foul trouble. If Gasol averages 20+ and Odom averages 15+, the Lakers win in 5 maybe 6 at most. If those guys aren't producing, then its Orlando in 6. If it goes to 7 games, then Lakers win.

Samuel Nwosu (Lakers fan/negrodamus) - FEELS SOOOOOO GOOD TO BE BAAAACCCKKK...David Cox..my regards to your age-less spurs (TPE- Told you he was a Spurs fan!)..My predictions are as follows ..LA in 5 at the most 6...for this simple reason...as much as Orlando spreads the floor....we wont collapse on Howard 24/7 like the Cavs..furthermore, Hedo and, yes, ONLY Hedo is the only player able to legitimately create his own shot...the rest are more prone to either spot up and shoot (usually a missed shot attempt if contested) or pass the ball inside...we are more of a physical team and hands down better defensively....the matchups can only be a problem for us on the OFFENSIVE side..based on strictly Odom and Bynum's gameplay..inspite of all of that, we got the best player in basketball to close out games...and actually hit free-throws when they count...I could go on for days..Orlando, like I have said from the begining (please check my references)...was the best team in the EAST (after KGs injury)...unfortunately they are still not ready for the LAKE SHOW..Enough Said.

Sean Small (Lifelong Bulls fan/Shares my disdain for Mamba man)- Kobe will have a landmark series but he will get little or no help. basically...Orlando will do to L.A what they did to Cleveland. D Howard will get the name MVP killer and Kobe WILL NOT WIN A RING WITHOUT SHAQ and despite his comments to Magic, IT BOTHERS HIM! Orlando in 6...When their 3pt shot goes down they're unstoppable. This will be an interesting series, but when Anthony Johnson and Tyron Lue are the only people on your team with previous NBA Finals experience and a coach with no Finals experience (remember he "took time off" before the Heat won in '06), its very hard for me to see this upset happening. I've never been a selfish person, (coughing)6.7 assist per game, but in order to convince you to vote for me for MVP, I'll have to brag on myself a lil bit ya know. But before I get started, I would like to dedicate my MVP season to Skip Bayless. Skip, your continual hate has motivated me to take my game to another level. 2. Let me ask you a question. At the beginning of this season, did you really see THIS Cleveland Cavalier team going 66-16*?!?! I'm POSITIVE you didn't see that coming! I mean, sure Mo Williams was a great addition to the team and yes, he's an all-star, but he was a replacement's REPLACEMENT!!!!! Meanwhile, I have to work with Big Z, Varejao, DW, Big Ben, Wally, Boobie, and whoever else Mike puts in the game (yea, we're on a first name basis.......matter of fact, he's MY assistant coach!). I must give D Wade props though. He is definitely working with scraps. But seriously, 66 wins?!?!?! Yea, i didn't think so! Also, my camaraderie with the team (see picture above), is parallel to no other star in the league! Kobe barely likes anybody else on his team and D. Wade is too into himself to even share the spotlight with his team!

(*- I didn't play in the last game of the season or else it would have been 67-15!!!)

3. OK, so maybe you didn't read those names above, but I'll prove how my presence on the court can make these guys better.

Delonte West- 10 ppg last year, 12 this year

Mo Williams- 39% from 3 last year, 44% this year

Anderson Varejao- (he averages less rebounds this year because I don't miss!) 7 ppg last year, 9 ppg this year!!!!

Do I need to continue?!?!

4. I want you to take a look at something..............http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?page=MVP-0809 . Witnesses speak the truth! Jon Barry is a BUM so I'm not tripping about him ridding me of being the unanimous choice! Somebody put that man in witness protection!!!

5. Allow me to hate a little bit. Ummm, MV3 (it only caught on in Miami) somehow seems to claim that "this is my house" when he plays at the America Airlines Arena and that's cute, it really is. But last time I checked, the Heat were 28-15 at home and MY Cavs were 39-2*. Also I conquered that house!!! This is MY LEAGUE Mr. Wade!!! (*- that 2nd home loss came at the end of the season when I wasn't playing)

6. Sigh, Mr. Bryant..........Yes he gave us our only home loss (ok, we lost 2, but I'm only gonna count 1), yes his teams record is almost as good as ours, and yes he is the reigning MVP, but his reign must come to an end. I don't know why Pau Gasol is so underrated!!!! This guy is LEGIT! If Kobe was not on this team, they would still have a shot at making the playoffs! As a matter of fact, If Kobe was having an off night, he could easily be the 4th option! Think I'm wrong?! Well, lets see. There's Pau (check), L.O. (check), and the playboy Bynum (check)! I'm sorry, but if I had those kind of options, I'd average a triple double AND have 70+ wins.........EVERY SEASON!

It disgusts me that I have to write this. The fact that everyone in the knowledgeable basketball world doesn’t believe that LeBron James is hands down the MVP of the NBA for the 2008-2009 season is a testament to the times. People don’t watch basketball games anymore, they just look at box scores. I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised. Someone told me once that Kobe is the greatest of all time because he scored 81 points in a game. Someone else told me recently that he thought Lil’ Wayne was the greatest rapper of all time. We have really short memories. More and more we’re becoming an “out of sight, out of mind” society. We eat minute rice because Basmati takes too long to cook and Taco Bell because we don’t have tip a server. We drink soda because it tastes better than water, and we watch Sportscenter because we don’t have time to watch the game. Don’t get me wrong, I love minute rice, Taco Bell, soda, and Sportscenter, but at least I recognize a shortcut when I’m taking one. It is important that we do thorough evaluations of players and their seasons when we’re deciding these end of the year individual awards. That being said, let me explain to you why LeBron James is the NBA’s Most Valuable Player this season.

It's simple really. No one wants to root for Goliath. I've been in the league 12 seasons, and have been most hated for 11 of them. I understand, but even after winning one MVP last year (many seasons overdue I might add) all people want to talk about is Bron, or Wade, or Colorado hotel rooms and 7th games against the Suns. I get it. I'm not the sexy pick. I don't get triple doubles regularly, nor do I show the athleticism and young Jordan like abilities in the open court like Mr. Wade (at least not anymore, have to save the legs you know.) What I do show, however, is that I am STILL the best basketball player in the world. I am the best at closing out games against anyone, be it an NBA team, Summer Pickup, Spain, or Martians. I am still the guy you would take to play someone one on one for the lives of your family. I'm still the guy you would take if you needed a last second jumper to win. I'm still the upgrade to what you saw in Mike (hey, let's be real, I have better footwork and a better jumper from 18 feet out.)I'm still THAT guy. What I am not, is a coddler. Hell, He (the one in Chicago) wasn't either. You either perform, or you get off the team. I'm not here to hold my teammate's hands, we are all professionals. I am here to win rings, 3 I already have if you weren't aware. Speaking of rings, let me be categorically clear with you all: Shaq's 3 rings wouldn't have happened in LA without me (and me alone) as the closer. He played 3.5 quarters a game (horribly out of shape) and then was a non-factor late in games due to his being less of a complete player (free throws, cough). I made the triangle go, not him. Now, back to this season...........

Let’s put this in perspective—Dwyane Wade is only getting shafted out of the 2009 NBA's Most Valuable Player Trophy for one reason, and one reason only: his team is only going to finish 2 or 3 games above .500 for the entire season. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers and Lakers, LeBron and Kobe’s teams (did I even need to say that??) are sitting more than 50 games above .500, basically implying to many voters and fans that they are more deserving of the award. In terms of MVP criteria, wins is an extremely important determinant in deciding who actually should receive the award. It is that way, and I believe it should be that way. At the same time, in order to evaluate an individual award in a team sport, I would like to think that you have to take into account the situation being presented to the player to truly determine whether or not they proved “Most Valuable” in the league, or if a portion of their value is credited to the team around them (and if so, how much). With all that said, let’s cut to the chase…Kobe has Gasol, an all-star post player, a $60 million center, a 3-time champion point guard, and an array of young talent around him. He has a team of veterans who all have (at minimum) reached the NBA Finals. He won the MVP Trophy at long last a year ago, and he’s returned this year to similar brilliance, albeit in the form of lesser numbers. 60+ wins, admirable. But expected. LeBron James is the best player in the league. If that were the argument today I’d be on the wrong side of it writing this article—that much I’ll admit. But from his past we’ve seen that his unselfishness in an even vote should actually work against him in the MVP voting. That is, he is the best player in the league right now because his supporting cast this year has been exponentially better. Surround him with below-average shooters and a loafing center and he is forced to do things he’s not yet great at. Surround him with the best shooting center and backcourt in the league, along with a stifling defensive plan from his coach, and he’s an unstoppable force, and the owner of the league’s best record. Simple. And Dwyane Wade? Well, it’s been quite a different road for Wade this year. Despite numerous personal and professional difficulties, he has managed to fight through the season in a way that has impressed voters to give him a peek for MVP. Of course, his actual “peak” seems to be 2nd or 3rd place. Well here’s a case for DWade.

Every March, the NCAA Tournament captures the nation with excitement over who will be crowned "king of the hill". Househoulds, schools, offices, and the president participates in predicting who will win it all. I'm very excited about my chances of winning all of the brackets that I fill out this year. I have seen 46 of the 64 teams play this year and I have a good feel for how the teams match up. However, there are plenty of concerns that I do have with the tournament. ACC player of the year, Ty Lawson from North Carolina, is out with a toe injury and it is unknown to when he will be ready to take the floor. This is a problem for me because I believe that the Tar Heels will go deep into the tournament, but if Lawson is not able to play at full strength, then the Tar Heels will be looking at an early exit. Overall #1 seed Louiville concerns me. they have been very inconsistent, but when they are playing to their full potential, then they are very tough to beat. The key to their success is the return (from Rick Pitino's doghouse) of guard, Edgar Sosa. As long as he is playing, I think that they can go very far. I would love UConn's chances, but without their key guard, Jerome Dyson, I don't see them putting it all together in order to come out on top. #2 seeded Memphis has a lot of talent, but I'm concerned with freshman guard, Tyreke Evans erratic play. He seems to have given himself the greenlight and that, in the end, can hurt the Tigers chase for the title. My early favorite for the title winners are the Pittsburgh Panthers. They have all the weapons for success. Dejuan Blair, Sam Young, and Levance Fields lead this young, scrappy and experienced team. I like their style of play and I believe that they can take it all. Unfortunately, they lost in the 1st round of the Big East Tournament. Which is where I get queasy all over again! Anybody can lose on any given night! Welp, that's just the beauty of the madness!

2009, Really?!?!?! WOW!! Man, the express has been down for a while and i have broken my promise of a blog a week (which is harder than you think) and for that........I'm sorry :-(. A lot has been going on in my world so let me catch you up! Ever since October (the date of my last post), I really haven't been that busy, but more so on the lazy side when it comes to keeping my blog up to date! Oops! LOL! Anyways, I was not in school last semester due to Oakwood being Oakwood, but I truly believe that God really has a plan in store for my life, which is why he did not allow me to be in school and graduate last semester so I'm no longer upset. That was really tough to deal with, but like I said, I'm cool, because I know God has my back! So despite my CHILLIN last semester, I got on some LSU online courses in order to make my load extra light during the spring semester. Well, long story short, WTF was I thinking?!?! LOL! Those teachers are really psycho! For example, do you remember the essay style questions at the end of the chapter from your grade school textbooks and you crossed your fingers, plotted, and prayed that your homework wouldn't include those questions?!?! Well, basically, every single question is like that! Anyways, I gotta do what I gotta do to get out of here, ya dig! Fast forward to right now, I am in school, classes going great, grad application approved, and I'm ready to dipset! Oh yeah, I got an internship at Speakin' Out News (The story behind how I got it is tooooo funny, but its SUPER EMBARRASSING so idk if I'll share that!). Anyways, my internship is going pretty good. I already have one story that went to print and I'm working on another one right now. I have already learned alot about my writing, research and interviewing techiques and I know what I need to do in order to improve and move toward making moves within the Journalism industry which leads to my next topic...........I really don't know what I'm going to do after I am done with school!!!! I want to go to J School (Journalism School), but if I can get a job anywhere, which would be such a blessing in THIS economy, then I will be there. Just keep me in your prayers as I advance in my career! Anyways, that's whats been going on with me! If I forgot something, I will definitely write about it. Anyways, new posts to come include- an update on MY ROCKETS (you don't wanna miss this one! A MUST READ!), My disgust with the entire Micheal Vick situation, a post from my sidekick (Fellas, it is NECESSARY that you read it), and much, MUCH more!

Friday, July 25th(old i know) was truly an amazing day for me. I've been blessed time and time again, but this time was different. You know how the Lord blesses us over and over, but we seem to take it for granted, or it doesn't seem like an extraordinary blessing?! Well this time was one of those extraULTRAordinary, publish in the Review/Message magazine type blessing. Well, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit, but that is what it felt like! Well, here's the story, blessing by blessing-

Blessing #1- It was payday and your boy was BROKE (and not that, "I only have 3 dollars to my name" broke either!!!!! I was, account in the negative, owe a nigga money BROKE!!!!! So I was soooooo hype to FINALLY get paid. Even though it was the 1 week paycheck, I was thankful.

Blessing #2- I had to go to the Philly International Airport to travel to Huntsville, AL for one of my friends wedding and I really needed to deposit my check. You see, even though it was payday, my automatic deposit was not set up yet, so i had to go to the bank. The only problem with that was, a) I had work until 3:45 and, b) The money wouldn't go through until the following business day if I was to deposit the money after I got off. So I explained my situation to my manager and he let me off of work (not to deposit the check, but for me to get to the airport on time, lol), so that was a blessing.

Trial #1- Well, I got off work at around 1:30 and immediately I headed to the bank. (quick story detour) I thought my flight was leaving at 8:50, but I checked the internet on my break and found out that it actually was to leave at 6:50!!!! So yea, that would've been tragic if I didn't check the internet. (Ok, now back to the story). Now I head to the bank and try......sigh....TRY to deposit my check into the bank, mind you, my account is overdrawn. So I try to deposit the check at Wachovia, but once I got to the desk, the lady told me that my funds would not process until the following day, despite me depositing the check before 2 p.m.!!!! So now I'm really stressing because not only am I technically STILL BROKE, but now I have to take a 40 minute drive to Philadelphia from New Jersey without the fill up that I previously planned!

Trial #2 and Blessing #3- So now I'm outside of the bank, slumped in my car seat, staring at the gas station right across the street and looking at the several pennies that I had to my name that were in my ashtray and I'm thinking to myself, WHY?!?! WHY ME?! So I briefly considered putting the $0.52 into my empty gas tank, and that didn't make any sense, because with gas at $4, that would only piss both me AND my gas tank off!!!!!! I also considered using my card (as credit of course) with the hopes that the transaction wouldn't go through until my money processed.....but then I realized that I was in the negative, and the gas station would deny my attempt before I could even start pumping! LOL (yea, I can laugh now, but it wasn't even funny at the time)! So I decided to start out on my journey to Philadelphia on my empty tank.

Ok, so I got the directions to the airport from this girl from my job..................and long story short, I got lost!!!!!! So I'm LOST on an EMPTY TANK with NO SENSE of where I was, AND my phone was off......Crazy right?! And no, I'm not making any of this up!!! Anyways, I was somewhere on 295 headed to Delaware when I decided to pull over and see where I was and how to get to the airport. At this time, I also decided that if I saw a gas station, then they were going to get the $0.52 that I was so dearly clutching in my hand the entire time that I was driving. Well, for some odd reason, there was no gas station to be found (figures) and there was no place to stop and ask for directions! I stopped at a vacant bank and got out of the car highly upset! The $0.52 that I had in my hands almost got tossed every which way, because I started to let my anger and frustration get the best of me, and because there was nothing to take it out on, I wanted to toss my change, but for some reason, I kept the change. After I gathered myself, I turned on my MAAAANNNNNNN sensors and decided to turn around and head north (I think) on I-295. Well, due to "road work" there was a detour to get back on the highway with no signs, so I swallowed my pride and asked a motorcyclist where to go. Once I got back on track, I still did not know where I was going and now my gas light is on. Somehow, I caught a glimpse of the exit(I-76) for the bridge that I was supposed to take in the first place and now I'm just praying that I can make it to the airport and just fill up once I got back from Huntsville. Well, I was able to make it to the bridge and well.....

Trial #3 and Blessing #4- Well.......there was a toll at the end of the bridge. Hmm, the only cash, no, currency that I had on me (that I knew of) was my precious $0.52. Not wanting to hold up traffic, I pulled over to the side and decided to discuss my situation to the office personnel, not wanting a free pass, but a ticket for not having the change so I could just continue on to the airport. Unfortunately, it was not that easy. I was told that I would have to be written up for the ticket and then wait for the police. I didn't quite understand that concept so I decided to stay parked on the side of the toll booth for a while and look for some random money laying around in my car. Well, the power hungry toll booth operators meant business and called the police on me and not even a minute went by before the police cruiser approached my dearest Dorothy (thats my car). I always get nervous when a cop car comes near my vehicle, due to my illegal tint and WAY past due tickets and this time I really didn't have time for any conflict, so I calmly approached the cop car. He asked me what I was doing parked in that section and I explained to him that my car was running out of gas quickly and that I just needed some more time to search for the money. He seemed real cool, and he actually let me do it. He also let me know that some state highway people were going to come and GIVE me a gallon of gas to continue on my way!!!!! This is when God really rolled his sleeves and got to work! I'm looking, looking, looking and I was starting to get discouraged. Then I realized that I didn't say a prayer, dumb I know, but hey I fixed that right away! After saying a prayer, I decided to look in an old receipt, $1, looked under my car seat, $0.25, car cushion-$0.35, and the list goes on! I could not believe what was happening! I mean, change was literally coming out of NOWHERE!!!!! The cop even got in on the action and offered me a quarter of his!!! Meanwhile the guy with the gas is putting the gas in my tank and my eyes started to well up with tears. I mean, God is sooooo good! So after all of this, I found myself $0.16 over the $3 toll fee that I needed. I gave the left over change to the cop, and thanked him for all of his help and patience. Oh yea, when I started my car up to continue on to the airport, my tank was in between 1/2 and 1/4 of a tank....now you tell me if that was a gallon!!!!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!

I was able to make it to the airport on time and most importantly, my faith in God became stronger! Isn't he good?!?! I keep the lone penny in my ashtray as a reminder that My God is Sovereign and there is nothing that he can't do!

So even though it may not seem like much at the time, you should always keep the change!

Well....not really due to all of the wars going on around us right now, but the Olympics is a time that the entire world can pause for world unity and I feel so proud of my country(even if a single game has yet to be played!)! But that is not what I am here to talk to you about. I am actually here to talk about the MUST WIN gold medal that Team USA is facing after failing to bring home the gold in 2004. Let,s weigh some quick pro's and con's. The pro's, it's Team USA, need I say more?! They have the best players in the world and this time around, with the 3-yr commitment from the top players in the league, things will be done right. Oh yeah, they also have Lebron James, the ZEUS of Basketball!(That is for my boy Calvin!). The con's, well they lost in 2004 and....well....the competition didn't exactly get weaker. Teams are actually stronger, and they have been playing together for years.

Despite Team USA being 2/7 favorites in these Olympic Games, I have the blueprint for the World to pull off the most colossal upset EVER!!! Here are some steps that can help the World beat Team USA.

1. Kidnap Kobe Bryant- You think I'm joking?!? OK, maybe I am...but it wouldn't hurt!

2. Play match up zone defense- I watched the US-Russia warm up game the other day, and I noticed that this defense is the best defense to play against Team USA. Why, you ask?! Well, its quite simple. No team can play man against Team USA. If they do, they are bold and foolish. It would look like 1992, but on a whole different wavelength! You can try to play a typical 2-3 or 1-3-1 zone, but the 2-3 zone would cause Coach K to go to Micheal Redd, and that would not be good for the world, and if they play a 1-3-1, then Dwight Howard would have a field day in the post. So the world's best bet is to play a match up zone, which can confuse Team USA at times.

2b. NO DOUBLE TEAMS!!!!- World, if you so choose to double team Team USA, then you are setting yourself up for failure!

3. Play with confidence- Every team needs to play with confidence against Team USA. Back in the days of Team USA dominating the competition, half of the reason was that the players were too busy being awestruck by the players on the Dream Team. So the world needs to play with a sense of disrespect. Who cares if you're LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and so forth. Get in their face! Try to frustrate them. Try to reverse the roles and play bully. The world needs to realize that they are basketball players just like them and that their game is not the individual game, it is a team game, so they must all be confident when facing Team USA.

4. Play Team Basketball- I watched Spain play a couple of games and I have watched Argentina a lot also. Although these teams have great individual players, they never stray away from the team game. The extra pass, the pick and roll, the give and go, the "no iso", all of these things are apart of the world game. The world needs to use this to their advantage, and remember that the way they play team basketball is the only way that they can defeat Team USA.

5. Go Hard or Go Home- Whatever team that has the challenge of playing Team USA, needs to play the full 40 minutes as if its their last game, because if they slack off one bit, then they are going to catch an L.

And that is how the World can possibly beat Team USA aka The Redeem Team. My predictions....well, I think Spain and Argentina are the toughest match ups for Team USA, but in the end, Team USA will claim Gold.

If you pay attention to any kind of news, then I'm pretty sure that you've heard, seen or read something about NFL Legend, Brett Favre. If not, I will give you the rundown. After a year(NFL Season) of breaking almost every quarterback record known to man, Favre decided to hang up the cleats forever and retire a Green Bay Packer Legend. Here's his retirement speech. Please watch before you continue reading. Wow, somebody get this guy a Kleenex.....EMBARRASSING! No but seriously, that was his retirement speech and I would hope that he is a man of his word. Unfortunately, that is not the case. In the past month, there have been rumors about Favre making a return to football. But as the weeks have passed, the plot has thickened and this once respected career, in my mind, now seems like a ring around the rosie circus act (and not even a Barnum and Bailey act either), and I, THE POLR EXPRESS, am SICK OF IT!!!! I can accept a player retiring. I can even tolerate an early retirement such as Michael Jordan's 1st retirement in 1993. You see, he had a reason to retire (death of his father) AND we all knew that he was not done playing basketball! But I have a personal disdain for those who retire and should stay retired, and that includes you too Michael! You see its one thing to retire and have a whole season dedicated to your legacy and stay retired(Cal Ripken, Michael Jordan('98), Reggie Miller, well, you get the idea), but it is another thing to retire and then toy with your teammates and LOYAL fans emotions as Favre has done. He has even taken a cheap shot at the Packers management, like they were in the wrong for not granting him a release from the team and offering him a contract to come back as a backup quarterback. I mean, seriously, "What are you thinking Brett?!". Can I be honest for one second?! Listen, I understand that you are a Hall of Fame quarterback, but can you really blame the Packers management for wanting to save your selfish, OLD %^$ from embarrassing yourself, injury, and many other things that could happen and would taint your legacy if you came back?! No, you really can't Brett, you really can't.... After your teary, emotional, "cry me a river" retirement speech, the Packers decided that it was time to move on and we all know that Aaron Rodgers is a worthy candidate to take over the reigns as the Packers QB. Now if it is tearing Favre up inside and he is as he put it, "guilty of retiring too early", then I believe that he should just leave the Packers alone and move on to another team, maybe his original team (yes there was a team before the Packers), the Atlanta Falcons would take him back, since they do need a quarterback (that's a whole different story that I wanted to write, but a friend and fellow blogger beat me it! Its a great read!) Or he could go to the Minnesota Vikings, who desperately need a quarterback, since they have a JOKE at quarterback. What's his name?! Yea, exactly! Anyways, I'm tired of Brett Favre and his antics. Hmmm, Sportsman of the Year?!?! I think not....

So, I am just now returning from Southwest Region's campmeeting where I was away from everything! Computers, cell phones(might as well, because there is NO service out there for real), and TV's..........BUT do you think that stopped THE P.O.L.R from watching game 5......tsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssst! Puh-LEEEAAASSSSEEE! Unfortunately, I didn't take any notes, so this will not be an extensive blog of the game. Instead, I'll speak my pierce...uh, I mean peace, and then open this thing up for discussion.

1. Kevin Garn, where are you?! You really disgust me right now! Keep this play up and I'll never use your name again(Just ask #24.) Its not a game Kevin! Get your shhhh together, geez. As THE SIDEKICK pointed out, Sam Cassell had more impact than you! Fack!

2. If you can't handle the truth, don't feel bad. #24 can't either!!!!!!!!!!! LLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!! Last night I finally realized why they call him that! Some may say #24 got lit up, but I just say he got Pierced!!!

3. Pau GaSOFT is so annoying.

4. Is it just me, or does Derek Fisher not play like a veteran at times?!?!?

NBA Finals Game 4!!!! Just when you thought it was over.......

OK, so I told you I had a surprise right?!?! Well there were some guest bloggers for Game 4!!! I can't say enough about these guys! Good looks for ya help. First half belonged to THE SIDEKICK AKA Alaskan Polar! And 3rd Quarter went to LeBron's Scrotum cleanser, Killa Cal, AKA C-Murda, BKA R&B! So here it....oh, and the 4th quarter was supposed to be for my dude E-Nice, but he was too busy singing your girls draws off! I already warned you, but its TOOOOOOOOOLAAAAAAAATE! So, for the 4th quarter, I shall write!!! Enough of my jibberjab, I want to hear what these guys have to say!

Its’ya boie sidekick, the boss is busy, so imma take you through the first half of Lakers vs Celtics game 4. I honestly don’t know who’s going to win this one…or I mean, who “the powers that be” (Davie Stern) has chosen, but what I do know is that no team has EVER come back from a 3-1 deficit, and the Lakers have won 15 straight at home (9 and 0 in the post season) and haven’t lost since march…what was I doing in march? Hmmmm, probably still trying to figure out why the eFF’n Mavericks traded for Jason “brick city” Kidd. Well, there’s the tip off and from the jump looks like Lamar Hoe-Dumb’s flight finally made it in! He’s been vacationing the past 3 games. His basketball play, if you can call it that, would be the equivalent of the “Clueless” girls staring on the show “Lost.” I truly believe that his very own cousins don’t even play with him on NBA Live because there embarrassed. Does anyone else have a passionate disgust for the way he shoots free throws? WTF!!!!!!!! Here’s a good one, minutes after commissioner David Stern held a news conference to deny allegations from former referee Tim Donaghy that officials manipulate games, Celtics coach Doc Rivers was whistled for a technical for complaining about consecutive non-calls. Anyways, Kobe with the assist to Gasol, and this just in! Did anyone catch what happened at 7:38 in the 1^st? Gundy referred to Kobe as “the best player in the world”…and assuming that aliens don’t hoop…that would make him the best in the universe! (just thought I should share) This game is getting out of hand…the Lakers are grilling Boston and Lamar is the cook (5 for 5); Lakers are up by 20 in the first quarter!!! Can you say “7-0 skunk”? I just gotta text, “this game has the potential of a blow out” and at this point I would have to agree. At the end of the first, the Celtics are 6 for 22, Lakers have attempted 15 free throws to the Celtics 2! Kobe hasn’t seen a field goal. Kevin Garn (as he is so passionately known) has 2 fouls and this has been a record setting first quarter differential. A measly 14 – 35!

In other news, will someone please tell me who this CLOWN in the yellow shirt that’s blabbing in these wack GMC commercials is!!!? I can’t bare to watch another one…i’m going to go get a some hot sauce for this bar-b-que’n of the Celtics.

Or as Mark Jackson puts it, a “good old fashioned blow out.” The Lakers continue the assault…and to my surprise, with out there fearless leader (he’s probably still laughing about that “good husband” remark he made). At this juncture, he has more fouls than points! Sasha, blazes another three pointer. These Lakers really got the fire under these coals as the Celtic D-fense is being charred, I mean, the crowd is even tired of standing ovations. Celtics have 1 assist and 7 turnovers at the midway point of the second;oh, and just incase you didn’t know, “vitamin water works for Kobe, try some!” I would love to Mr. Announcer guy, only he still hasn’t made a field goal with 3:50 left to play in the half. A score by Kevin Garn, and one by Jesus cuts the lead to 14…Celts are on a run. Annnnd it’s quickly shut down by Lamar “the cook” (now 7 for 7) who continues to grill these Boston Turkeys. Things just got interesting; the Celtics have scored 12 points in 2 minutes after scoring just 21 points in 20 minutes. And now a special report from my guy Icing, the heart stopper in the helicopter:

We are now half way through this7 game series that the NBA has clearly guaranteed will go 7. What tipped me off? Nothing in particular, other than the fact that whoever’s at home in this series plays better AND has the game called in there favor. So of course the leagues gonna stretch this out to the max….so enjoy the next 3.5 games. I haven’t quite figured out who the league has chosen to win yet…look for another 20-2 free throw advantage at halftime in game 7 and you’ll figure it out.”

This may sound wild to you, but despite the lead, I got this one going into over time, and the Lakers on top. The Turkeys won’t be cooked for long, but I’ve got my plate and napkin ready. Only seconds remain, and Phill goes with his gut…he puts Jordan into the game to close the half out. Jordan! get the in bound! He Shoots!!!…HE SCOOOREEEEESSSS!!!!!!! Jordan!!! DOES IT AGAIN!!!! Jordan! hits a running 3 pointer to push the lead back up to 17….Jordan! Jordan! Jordan!

THIS GAME IS FAR FROM OVER!!!! They play 48 minutes for a reason people. The Celtics must buckle down and play d and be aggressive and get to the line on the other end. The more aggressive team each game has won every game. And that's why i picked you my dude! This guy knows his basketball people! This game was very interesting! Little did I know that I would be writing this, so just comment if there is a play that I missed that you think was of some significance, ok.

4th Quarter- So this Staples Center crowd is still quiet. After all the TV timeouts and everything! If you're not shocked, then I am! You know I almost found myself rooting for k-HOE-be. I was willing to give him a chance to make me a believer and was unrealistically thinking that this clown would keep this thing at a distance, because of his killer instinct, you know, the black mamba inside of him, but here we stand, 73-73. What was once a piecing, has now been divvied up and eaten by one hungry A$$ team and now they are ready for WAR!!! These substitutions that Doc Rivers has done are really paying off for the Celts. Eddie House is playing inspired basketball and James Posey....well, he's acting like he's been here b4(Something a CERTAIN SOMEBODY should be doing!!!!!!!). KB24 is starting to heat up a little bit, but the hometown hero, Paul Pierce(well, he's not so much of a hero right now in L.A.), is doing a good job countering and is playing some very good defense on #24(he doesn't deserve for me to speak his name at the moment). Wow, look who made his first 4th quarter appearance!!! It's Kevin Garn(just because you made a shot in the 4th doesn't mean we'll use your full name, because you still play 3/4 of the game)!!!! This game is very intense right now! I'm supposed to be sleeping, but I am now sitting up on the couch with my popcorn!!! #24 just made a wicked in and out on Posey, but he's also a champion and responds with a 3 pointer to cut the lead to 1. 81-80. Now I'm realy into this game because if the Celts win, that's a crazy hole to dig out of!!!!!!!!! Man I'm really HATING this 2-3-2 format right now! Who's in the house?!?!?! EDDIE IS and the Celts take the LEAD!!!!!! 84-83. Big shot from the NBA's King of Crunk!!!!! I'm reading his lips and he's tellin them boys that he's a $%##$%%^%^&* SHOOTER! Yes you are Eddie. Anyways, Mr Kevin Garn made ANOTHER 4th quarter bucket (You really want your name back don't you!) and the Celts have a 5 point lead going into the 2 minute mark! The teams trade free throws for a while, the #24 makes a nice layup to cut the deficit to 2. 89-87. 1:37 left. The Celts milk the clock some'n STUPID, and the ball finds its way into James Posey's hands.......WOW..... That's all I can say about that shot! To me that was the biggest shot of the game and now with 1:13 left, the Lakers are starting to look worried, even their "leader". D-Fish (Where had he been this whole time?) hits a clutch jumper to trim the lead to 3, 92-89, (He's from Little Rock....I'm not suprised), but #24 makes a foolish foul on Paul Pierce on the other end and we're headed to the line.Ice Cold. Ice Cold. Ice Cold. He nails both freebies and the lead is back up to 5. A broken play turns in the Lakers favor as Pau G-HOE-SOFT dunks the ball on a lob from #24 (BTW-I would love to see Rik Smits work this clown out) and the lead is down to 3. 94-91. This is it. The possession that makes this game. More milking of the clock. Sasha "I shoot too much" Vujacic has been harrassing Jesus Shuttlesworth ALL GAME LONG and now Ray Ray has had enough. Iso.(waving hands)I said iso nigga, I don't need a pick(I can only imagine that this is what he said to Kevin Garn). He dribbles and dribbles and dribbles. Vujacic all of a sudden stops playing his pressing D. I can see the confidence dwindle and he looks as nervous as #24 at a hotel in Colorado, Mike Vick at a P.E.T.A Convention, O.J. Simpson around all caucasions! Ray Ray can smell the blood, that scuuurdy cat blood, and like a Lion on its prey, he pounced, but in the form of a crossover. VujaCHICK is left standing there, frozen, realizing his bitchassness, and now only has the hope that a help defender would make up for his mistake. But the help D has been very weak so far (see above picture if you can catch my drift)! Now all that is left for Ray Allen to do, is lay the ball up, because the D is so spread, its just him and the basket. (WAIT! did he just look back at VujaCHICK?!?!? Wow! The UTMOST disrespect!) Anyways, lay up is good, and I can feel the life sucked out of the Staples Center. A la staple to the heart of the entire Laker nation. the next possesion was filled with bricks and confusion and #24 clapping his hands, pouting and shouting," Pass it to meeeeeee", "I'm open", "Right here", but the damage is done. The game and more than likely the series is over. A free throw and a miss from Eddie House seals the deal for the Celts. Game out. 97-91. Celtics 3, Lakers 1. Sigh, I really hate this 2-3-2 format, but see you back in LA on Sunday for a CRUCIAL, CRITICAL, PIVOTAL, and whatever fitting adverb you can find, Game 5. Comments are welcome!

Game 3, Finally!

OK, ok, ok. So I know that this is long overdue and to those who have been waiting for this, I am truly sorry for leaving you stranded. It's a long story why I didn't post the blog earlier, but I really don't have to explain myself......Get at me! LOL! But on a serious note, I could have given you guys a watered down version of the game, but you deserve better, so here it is!

Pregame- OK...........I'm beginning to wonder if people are "doing favors" to sing the national anthem. No seriously, W.........T...........F???!?! Can somebody with real talent please sing the national anthem?! And no, I'm not available. Oh wait, I am just now informed that the guy who sang the national anthem is the winner of American Idol. Yeeeaaaaa, I think its time to cancel that show! And I notice that Kobe's haircuts are getting lower and lower. Hmm, I wonder why?! Whatever. The game is finally about to tip off! Let's get it!

1st Quarter- Kobe has come out of the gates very aggressive (women in Colorado, be verrrrry afraid). And the defensive switch that Phil Jackson has come out with (Kobe on Rondo/Fish on Ray Ray) is brilliant. Kobe doesn't have to work so hard on defense, no offense to Rondo, and now the Celts are caught in a pickle if any shot doesn't go in, because the chances are very likely that Rondo will have to guard Kobe, which is bad news. Meanwhile, Kevin Garn is a no show and I'm wondering HOW ON EARTH do people compare this guy to Timothy Duncan!?!?!?!?!!! It doesn't make any sense at all!!!!! I mean, 4(rings) to 0, 2(MVP) to 1, Winner to Loser, Jay-Z to Soulja Boy, lol.....Bottom line....DON'T COMPARE THEM! Anyways, Kobe is making a LIVING at the line! Sigh......my friends know how I feel about this. Well, here's your payback from the last game, as the Lakers(K-HOE-BE) already attempt more FT's than last game. And Pau GaSOFT, meet the Defensive Player of the Year. You may have got him last time, but not this time!!!!! Well, that's it for the quarter. Tie game.

2nd Quarter- Umm, can somebody call the "Big 3" please and tell them that there is a game going on!!!! And will somebody PLEAAAASE tell Sam Cassell that he's not apart of the "Big 3"!!! Stop shooting so much E.T.! Also, somebody tell L.O. that this isn't a joke. His team is counting on him to be that X Factor, and here he is CLOWNIN around on the floor, and now he has 3 fouls. What a disappointment. Reminds me of why people labeled you a bust in the first place. Anyways, PJ Brown and Jordan Farmar are about to go at it, but Jordan WISELY turns away!(Young boy, you don't waaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnntttt it!!!!!!!) Ok so I missed the 1st quarter due to some unfortunate circumstances, but I made it for the 2nd quarter and beyond. Also, I "blogged" in a notebook instead of ON a notebook, so my notes n quotes may not be as extensive this time around but nevertheless, I wrote!!!!

1st Quarter- I am recieving text messages about KG getting booomed on (I saw the replay and THAT'S your defensive player of the year.......EWWWW!!!!) and BS foul calls on K-HOE-be(I'm never going to stop calling him this! LMAO). ex.- text from my dude Nick(sigh....the refs are acting up), or from my dude Bear-(this is bs ref basketball right now)....awww, someone grab these guys a kleenex. (Later highlights do prove that the first foul call on KB24 is a little bit funny, but the 2nd call.........outta line!

2nd Quarter- Is this the Leon Powe show? I mean, this clown is making a living at the free throw line! And is it just me, or is Kendrick Perkins one of the most annoying players in the NBA. This clown swears that he is nice! He wouldn't start on the Rockets, THAT'S A FACT!!!! Anyways, Kobe is heating up now....FINALLY, but oh wait.....3 fouls! What a shame! (i recieve a text from my boy Beans-isn't Kobe playing like the bad team Kobe right now?) No Beans, k-HOE-be's just showing his true colors. His team player ACT is getting old! I mean, I'll believe Nick Cannon's acting before i believe this clown k-HOE-be! And i don't understand why Pau Gasol doesn't get more touches. He's 6 for 6 and they won't feed him the ball!!!! 3rd Quarter- Ok, so i had to make a run and I missed most of the 3rd quarter, but I happened to catch the final 5 minutes. This game is starting to get out of hand and I'm considering grabbing some mashed potatoes and biscuits for the Lakers to go along with this piecing! The points keep piling up and the Lakers call a timeout. k-HOE-be looks pissed, I'm expecting a big 4th quarter from him. And will somebody PLEASE get Eddie House's bad ass lil kid off the floor! 4th Quarter- I'm talking to my guy Ro, and we are evaluating this whole series and things seem really fishy about EVERYTHING that is happening. I mean, is the NBA a soap opera?!?!(I WILL write on this later) Anyways, this thing seems to be in the bag for the Celts. All they need to do is, like the GMC guy says, NEVER LET UP!!! Meanwhile, the Leon Powe show continues....at the free throw line!!!!! This is ridiculous! 7 minutes left, and the Lakers are down by 20 something and look who decides to show up now.......mr k-HOE-be! Welcome to the game. Where have you been? You are better than Jordan right????!?!?! WHATEVER!!!! Well, one person wants to win and that's Vladmir Radmonovic!!! Yo, this guy is WET(no homo). Remember him on Live 05 or something when he was on the Seattle Sonics?!?! I mean, niggas would pick the Sonics and I would be like, "FOR WHAT?", then I found out!!! LOL! His 3-ball on that game was UNFAIR!!!! Anyways, the Lake-Show is starting to show signs that it can win this game. Like seriously, confidence is good, but goodness! The Celtics shot 38 free throws(Powe shot 13 of them) while the Lakers shot 10! WTF?!?! I understand that you get home cooking, but wow, Celts had filet mignon while the Lakers had kibbles 'n' bits. Anyways, this game is done and now we head to L.A. I'm still pretty new at this blogging thing so don't get on me too hard, but I am going to attempt to blog this game quarter by quarter. Ok, so the game is about to start and I can't help but cry because a series like this DESERVES the NBA on NBC!!!! David Stern.....I Hate You. Anyways, the introductions are starting and.......Wait, Mbenga gets love from the p.a. announcer??!?! H'WHHAAAAT?!?!?! LOL! Just playing. You deserve it Mbengaba.........your cheerleading takes this team a long ways! The Celtics intro seems pretty hype, but AYO Technology?!?!?!??! WTF?!? Can we PLEEEEEEEAAAAASSSSSEEE get a new instrumental?! Oh and the national anthem?!?! I think you could teach a parrot to do a better job! sheeesh! Anyways, things are about to tip off, and I'm ready!! Let's get it!

1st Quarter- The crowd is absolutely electric, but quick scores by the Lakers quickly quiet these clowns! LOL! Na, but from the get, you can already tell that this is going to be a series, and as this quarter continues, it is evident that Rajon Rondo is going to have to make that corner shot because he is more open than Karinne Stefans, LOL(yea i'm lame for that one but whatever)! Kobe is doing his Mother Teresa act that is oh sooooooooo annoying! You know, the one where he "lets his teammates get warmed up".......WHATEVER WITH THIS GUY!!!! KG seems really intense and is going attempting to go hard. The quarter is almost at an end and.............OMG! Did ANYONNNNNNEEE see Pau Gasol go skating just now?!??!?!! Overall, a good quarter. Good defense by both teams, but nothing too significant on offense.

And you may respond, "Yea, he's nice". Well Cassell is CRAFTY! I have never seen a player shoot from the same spots every single time! But you know, he is old, and you're not as athletic, so you do have to be crafty. He's gonna be a funny a$$ Grandpa, I can already tell! LOL!!!......WAIT! So I'm hearing the announcers talking about k-HOE-be being compared to Jordan, saying that he can be in the same conversation as Jordan. Ok, so the NBA Finals are finally here and the two teams that everybody predicted (or maybe just the NBA set up to play) are here. On June 5th, in Boston, MA, one of the most anticipated NBA Finals will kick off, and a champion will be crowned. You have the league's most talented player, Kobe Bryant and best coach, Phil Jackson versus the most hyped team besides the 2004 Lakers (Tssst, the irony) the Boston Celtics. I am not too happy about these finals because I have the world's deepest DISDAIN for fackin Kobe Bryant!!!!!!!! But I must say he has earned my respect.

Anyways, I have consulted with some of my closest friends and sports guru's to get their views and predictions on the finals and their answers were very interesting so take a look and enjoy.

Cedric Robinson (Spurs fan & fellow MAN baller)- I've got the Celtics in 7. If Ray Allen plays a solid series, Celts win. The Celtics defense is too krunk (for you hip-illiterate, that means hype or crazy) and they are too deep to lose. Kobe has heart, but he can't do it by himself!

Nicholas Vernon (Knicks fan....LLLLOOOOOOLLLLL)&Roommate & Fab 5 member) - The Lakers in 6. Once they get 3 wins, they are going to close the next game, NO MATTER WHAT!

Stevie Valles (HUGE Kobe fan & Fellow Joe Johnson supporter) - The Lakers in 6. The Lakers are going to get a game on the road. Plus Kobe has come too far to lose. Him or Phil.

Sean Small (Lifelong Chicago Bulls fan & Lakers hater) - Celtics in 7. I hate Kobe and everything the Lakers stand for. But seriously, the Lakers don't have the people to stop every on of the Celtics weapons every night.

Sheldon Eakins (Fellow Rockets fan & G5'er, lol!) - Celtics in 7. They're gonna win all of their home games, period.

Samuel Owusu (Big Lakers fan & Joe Johnson respect....er) - Lakers in 6. I've got them in 6 for the simple reason that the Celtics can't win in L.A. We would take it in 5, but we want to WIN IT ALL at home for tha fans!!!!!!

Samuel Adams (Lakers Sacker & Beer, LMAO!!!!) - Lakers in 6, and that's because they are the Lakers. No other reason is needed!!!

Ok............WAIT! I have to pause right now because some of these answers are blowing me!!!! Maybe I should have asked for some NON-BIASED answers. WTF Sam Adams! You see, its answers like that that make me HATE the Lakers and everything they stand for!!!!(Sean, I feel u on this bro....UGGHGHGHGHH) Now can we get serious guys, PLEASE!

Brandon Snowden (HS basketball teammate & Lakers fan who made me HATE Kobe) - The fan side in me says the Lakers, so I'll take the Lakers in 6. consistency has been the the key in the playoffs this year. Gasol wins the battle down low with Perkins, KG will be too much for Radmonovich, Pierce vs Odom is a tough matchup, Kobe wins the battle with Ray Allen, Fisher's experience will be too much for Rondo, and the Lakers bench is better than the Celtics. But in the end, its all about who can win on the road and so far the Lakers are the better team on the road.

David Cox (Knicks fan (who knew) & Tim Duncan admirer & Fab 5 member)- Lakers in 6. It will be a very good series though. The Celticsneed to make Kobe guard somebody and hope that he gets tired.

Calvin Myrie (LeBron James worshipper & Fire Mike Brown campaign manager)- Lakers in 6. They will probably split the 1st 2 games in Boston and then win games 3, 5 and 6. Kobe won't be the only difference maker though. They (Lakers) must shut down Ray Allen. Look for Fisher to be a factoer with outside shooting and great off ball and help D. The only way they loose the series is if Kobe goes nuts and forgets what got them there.

Ennis Johnson (www.myspace.com/enicejohnson & The reason for me hating Kobe)- Well, first of all I believe that the Celtics are battle tested for the Finals, so they'll be ready. The Lakers only lost 3 games in the post season and if you start in the post season, then the Lakers have the best record, so they will be ready as well. I'll take the Lakers in 6. The Celtics haven't learned to slow down teams with a scoring perimeter player (1st rd- Joe Johnson, 2nd rd- Lebron James). Kobe is the most dominate player in that he has played next to Jordan and he will have his way. And unlike Joe and LeBron, he will dominate EVERY GAME. Boston has proved themselves at home, but not away. detroit did not have a player that dominated so the Celtics were able to manage. The Lakers will easily win in Boston. Kobe will not be denied. He will not come this far to lose and go home. The "big 3" will choke and the Lakers will feed off of Kobe's intensity. Lakers in 6!!!!!!!

We are faced with the classic clash of the Titans, where there is one winner and one looser….the NBA Championship. Terrell McCoy, Jr. (THE P.O.L.R/Houston Rockets fan 4 LIFE, NO MATTER WHAT!!!/Joe Johnson Bandwagon Recruiter/ BossHog)- Lakers v. Celtics. Rivalry Renewed. Can you feel it?! I can! No matter how much I may want to hate on this series (because of my belief that the league rigs games to get the desired series i.e. Joe Crawford ref'n game 4 of the Lakers/Spurs series and SO MUCH MORE, but that's a whole 'nother subject), I can't help but get really excited about this series. It has the most hype (as it should) and all the ingredients are there for a classic series and so much drama. I mean, you have the best player in the game (yes, i admit it) in Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest coaches EVER in Phil Jackson, and 3 hungry, title-starved superstars, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce. This Boston Celtic team has gotten all of the hype, I mean, the ESPN commercials and the Gatorade commercial that we all have grown to HATE, due to its constant running (sometimes back to back, WTF?!?!!!). But can they live up to it on the biggest stage in the NBA?! Throughout these playoffs, they have been pushed, worn, and tested. They have passed all of these tests, but now it is time for that final exam. You know, the one teacher that has to be a *%&%head, and make your final 50% of your grade?! Well, David Stern is him, and this final is 100% of their grade. Its go hard or go home, Be history or make history. Nobody has a trophy presentation for the loser's of the NBA Finals. the only consolation is a vacation far, far away!!! LOL! I mean, this Celtic franchise expects greatness, and after the biggest turnaround in NBA history, why expect less?!?!?!?! On the other hand, the Lakers, to me, seemed like a really good team, but not a great team. Well, on February 2, 2008, that all changed (I'm starting to get mad). Do you know what happened on February 2nd?!?! That's when the fackin Memphis Grizzlies gave, not traded, Pau Gasol to the Lakers for a vending machine and a draft pick, which won't be any good, because i don't see the Lakers being a lottery team for AT LEAST 5 years!!!! (I'm getting really upset now). I thought that the Lake Show was just fine with Andrew Bynum, but with Pau Gasol, it's just poetry in motion. The triangle offense will never be the same!!!! I've held my silence on this team for a while now, but now it is time for me to speak out. Like my colleague David Cox said, " I know a championship team when I see one", and this Lakers team is just that! What other NBA team can start 3 7 footers, a Michael Jordan clone, and a seasoned point guard (who is from Little Rock by the way). And that's just the beginning!!! Their bench is the deepest and most talented bench in the league. I'm going to stop rambling about this team because I'm salivating and Rockets GM Daryl Morey is threatening to take away my fan card. So here goes my pick. I have the Lakers in 7, with a classic 2OT game 7 where Kobe will not be denied. This series will be hard fought. There will be blood. Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher, and Jordan Farmer are the X-Factors for the Lakers. L.O. must step up and be the most consistent player on the floor. He's such a matchup problem and that will be BIG!!!! On the other hand, Rajon Rondo and ummm.......PJ Brown are the X-Factors for the Celts. Rondo must control the pace and not get too excited. PJ Brown will be asked to rough up Gasol and patrol the paint. Ray Allen must find his mojo, and KG must play like a man possesed, EVERY GAME! P-Double(Paul Pierce) must put some pressure on the defense and force Phil Jackson adjust his rotation. Like David said, Somebody needs to make Kobe work on defense so he won't be so energized to get in them bunnnnzzzzzz on offense!!!!!!!!!!!!

One team is young, talented and will find themselves in this position again. The only way to go is up. The other team......well, this may be their last hurrah. They have the oldest roster in the league and their stars aren't on the right side of the hill, if you catch my drift. Great series, great history between both teams and a great rivalry. Two great teams, but there can only be one. I'm soooooooo ready for this series. Are you?!

Man, my first blog!!!!! Ya boy is excited, for real! I've been stalling and continually putting off starting my blog because I didn't have a cool enough name or name that was catchy enough, so I went searching for a name. I texted and called, researched and reviewed, and nothing seemed to work for me!!!!!! I began to get frustrated because people weren't texting me back or they were texting me some whack a$$ names!!!! Then I got a text from my boy Brenton(Shout out to Tennessee), and he mentioned a couple of names, and one of them really caught my eye. It was an old myspace name of mine and I figured, hey, this should work! I checked with my peoples and the feedback was all good, so i set up my account. So enough of my blabber, I know that you're wondering, "What is The P.O.L.R exPRESS?!?!?!?". Well I'm glad you asked! It stands for The Pride of Little Rock Express.
